Better Off is actually a true story and it still moves me when I sing it. I recall releasing someone I truly loved, having realized that their heart was always going to remain elsewhere, with the one they had lost. Their heart full of so much regret, and longing to be reconciled to someone else.....It was too crowded for me, and I realized that too late...that was a painful lesson....and another song that I am grateful to have written.
