"Ladybird is a collection of love letters sung by Mehuman through the joys and sorrows of relationships with lovers, family and friends. Each song is a tribute and testimony of the transformative power of love, grace and grief, gained and lost. In addition, the lyric videos were created by Mehuman (without AI) to invite the listener deeper into Mehuman's craft of musical storytelling and healing. Intended to comfort, inspire and reconcile "Ladybird" is a sensitive, deeply personal and relatable album documenting a creative sojourner's progress in love and life.

“Child of God”, is Mehuman’s third and most authentically transparent composition delivered as a preview of her upcoming full-length album “Ladybird”, slated to release later Spring 2025. “Child of God”, is about wrestling through the wilderness of compounded trauma resulting in actual clinical heartbreak. Child of God documents an unprecedented season of Mehuman’s radical crisis of profound doubt in the wakes of multiple tragic deaths.“I was lost in despair”, says Mehuman, ’Child of God’ was penned as a desperate plea for answers, comfort and clarity. Grief is not linear, fair or kind. Grief a relentlessly brutal bludgeoning form of education. In which I have learned how to keep living.” ’Child of God’ is a confident questioning of Heaven for the only answers that have the power to restore a broken spirit. Crafted from heartache, “Child of God” is a tribute to the most transformative experience of in life, the loss of a loved one.

"Child Of God" is a deeply personal song for me after two years of loosing loved ones. Grief is transformative and it has changed me at the cellular level. And I truly do wonder "What happens in Heaven when a Child of God dies?" 

Whether from illnesses, accidents, or in the worst case, murders and wars, I wonder what changes on the cosmic level when the beauty of life is destroyed? I wonder if there are trillions of micro tears or tiny rips in the heart of the universe? Or salty vapors set a drift into the stars with every final exhalation? I wonder what to do with The void that brims over with a homeless love? I wonder when that hollow ache of "missing someone" becomes normal? I wonder what we are suppose to learn from suffering? Compassion? 

I know that grief has changed me, for I've seen the face of God, weeping for all creation. I pray that it makes me kinder and less quick to judge others. I hope it helps me to not waste anymore time...... or love.

"Every time, I have the honor to become intimate with another human, I learn more about my capacity for loving and forgiving and my need for the same. I have also learned that I value meaningful relationships more than anything, and the grace my love ones often extend me. The most important theme in my song, "Days Like This", is my intentional choice to choose love…every day. "Days Like This " - A love letter of encouragement to you. Love wins."

I wrote the title track "Ladybird" for my Mother.

Mom was the first person to inspire and comfort me. She was "the first" in many things as an Afro Indigenous woman and a trailblazer, in the face of constant adversity. Mom was a "straight A" student, Registered Nurse, Minister, and Poet. She played piano and loved to sing. Mom had style and was an absolute beauty.

I also wrote Ladybird for myself for when I feel like I have failed or fallen short of my goals and dreams.

Ladybird is a love letter to all the women who continue to enrich my life. Ladybird is an expression of gratitude to all my supporters which includes great men like my sweet Dad, that have championed me.

We all need encouragement. We all need hope. I wrote Ladybird for you.
